Infrastructure is the most boring subject in local government, right up until a pump station fails during a storm or a fire station’s HVAC gives out. In January 2025, the city... graded its own infrastructure. The overall grade came back a C, and the report says the city needs $1.8 billion in infrastructure investment between now and 2039 just to catch up. 

People ask me all the time what I mean when I say I’ll bring “common sense” to City Council. Fair question. So let me define it plainly: common sense is asking whether something actually helps the people who live here, whether we can afford it, and whether anyone bothered to ask residents before doing it. That’s it. That’s the whole test. 

When people picture “government,” they picture cable news: Congress arguing, the White House, the Governor’s latest press conference. Big fights, big headlines. But here’s the truth nobody tells you: the government that actually runs your daily life isn’t in Washington or Sacramento. It’s seven people at Huntington Beach City Hall.

... since these terms get thrown around so loosely on both sides of every argument, I think it’s worth explaining what they actually mean, because most people using them aren’t using them as definitions. They’re using them as insults.

Every time a Huntington Beach council meeting gets heated, someone accuses someone else of violating “the Brown Act,” and many residents watching at home have no idea what that actually means. That’s a problem, because this law belongs to you, not to city hall. 

It was written in 1953 after a newspaper series exposed local officials making real decisions in secret “workshops” before ever showing up in public. 

There’s a rumor going around that I’m just rage-filled, with no substance behind it. So let me answer that directly.

Rage is correct. That’s exactly what motivated me to run for City Council.
